The Plant:
Myrrh is harvested from the Commiphora tree, a small, thorny tree native to the Horn of Africa and the Arabian Peninsula. Like frankincense, the resin is obtained by making incisions in the bark and allowing the sap to harden into amber-coloured tears. Myrrh has been valued for thousands of years across ancient Egypt, Greece, Rome and China for its medicinal, spiritual and preservative properties and was used by the ancient Egyptians in the embalming process. Our myrrh essential oil is sourced from an approved sustainable source in Somalia.

At end of life

Myrrh and frankincense are often considered companion oils, complementary in both aroma and emotional support, particularly for animals at end of life or in need of comfort.
