The Plant:
Grapefruit is a subtropical citrus tree believed to be a natural hybrid of the sweet orange and pomelo, first documented in Barbados in the 18th century. The essential oil is cold expressed from the rind of the fruit and is one of the most uplifting and cleansing of all the citrus oils. In Oriental medicine, grapefruit oil is classified as cool and dry, making it particularly indicated for conditions of heat, damp and phlegm.
