The Plant:
German Chamomile is a delicate annual herb native to Europe and Western Asia, now widely cultivated across the UK. It produces small white daisy-like flowers with bright yellow centres. Also known as Blue Chamomile, its essential oil has a distinctive dark blue colour, the result of the chemical constituent chamazulene, which is produced during the steam distillation process and is responsible for the oil’s powerful anti-inflammatory action.
