Description

Frankincense Essential Oil Boswellia carterii

Origin and Extraction:

Country of Origin: Somalia

Botanical Name: Boswellia carterii

Plant Part: Gum/resin

Extraction Method: Steam distillation

Aroma:
Soft, woody, warm and resinous with a subtle sweetness. One of the most ancient and sacred aromatics in the world, used in meditation and to keep temples pure for thousands of years.

The Plant:

Frankincense is harvested from the Boswellia tree, a small, hardy tree native to the Horn of Africa and the Arabian Peninsula. The resin is obtained by making incisions in the bark, allowing the sap to bleed out and harden into the familiar amber-coloured tears. Frankincense essential oil was found in King Tutankhamen’s tomb, dating back to 1323 BC, making it one of the oldest recorded aromatics in human history.
