The Plant:
Roman chamomile is a low-growing perennial herb native to Western Europe and widely cultivated across the UK. Also known as Noble, English, Common or True Chamomile, it has been used medicinally for thousands of years. It was one of the nine sacred herbs of the Anglo-Saxons and has been a staple of European herbal medicine ever since. Not to be confused with German chamomile, Roman chamomile has a sweeter, more apple-like aroma and is considered particularly gentle and soothing.
